Ok well its no secret that I tend to eat a couple ring gears a year!!! (currently a Reverse-Cut Dana-60 with 4.88 gears)
On the new buggy I wanted something that would hold together and after searching and searching Portal-Tek finally came up with a good option at a price that is still well, pricey. The built a Super14, a fabricated housing with a dropout 3rd that uses Corp-14bolt components...
I also wanted the old style, their first style diamond shaped housing because I want to eventually build my own front 609 so both the front and rear axle housings will somewhat match. (Their new redesigned housing is bump-formed and is more barrel shaped)
I called them up asking questions and they said they aren't making (or Ballistic) isn't making the diamond shaped housing anymore but they had one, only one still in stock. They made me an offer Amanda couldn't say no to so it was ordered... It will take a while to come up with the rest of the money to buy a spool, gears, bearings, hubs, rotors, calipers and shafts but i will update as I go...
For now here are a couple pics to look at...
